About the Club
The Tupelo Amateur Radio Club (TARC) is a group of licensed amateur radio operators in the Tupelo, Mississippi area. We are dedicated to advancing the art and science of amateur radio, providing emergency communications, and fostering fellowship among radio enthusiasts.
Our club callsign is K5TUP. We welcome hams of all experience levels, from newly licensed operators to seasoned veterans.
Club History
The Tupelo Amateur Radio Club has been a fixture of the northeast Mississippi amateur radio community since its ARRL affiliation in 1956. Over the decades, the club has operated under several callsigns — KC5OBD, KK5K, and today K5TUP.
TARC members have long been active in emergency communications through ARES and Skywarn, providing severe weather spotting and disaster communication support for the Tupelo area. The club also participates in contesting, DX, and VHF/UHF operations, and maintains the K5TUP repeater on 147.240+ (PL 100).
Each year, the club hosts Papa Jack's Trade Day — a beloved local hamfest where operators buy, sell, and trade gear while catching up with friends and putting faces to callsigns.
